Partnership for Children & Youth (PCY) believes all children need opportunities to learn beyond the school day and year to build skills and relationships, expand their horizons, access social capital, and discover their passions. PCY improves learning opportunities and conditions for youth by increasing access and quality of expanded learning programs in California through a strategic mix of policy, advocacy, and capacity building. Join PCY and the California AfterSchool Network to learn from pioneering districts implementing AR programming, who will provide practical strategies and advice, and answer questions about how to implement Attendance Recovery effectively. This discussion showcases learning from our newly released resource, Emerging Practices for Attendance Recovery, the second report of a 3-part series. The webinar will be one hour with an optional 30 minute Q & A with the panelists.

Priorities

SUMMER LEARNING

We promote the importance of summer learning, help district leaders launch or improve their summer programs, and advocate for public funding to ensure all children have access to high-quality summer learning programs.

We are working to increase access to expanded learning opportunities for middle and high school youth, and document and promote strategies to effectively serve older youth in expanded learning programs.

OLDER YOUTH

EARLY LEARNING COLLABORATION

We are working alongside our early learning partners to advocate for policy shifts that enable program collaboration to achieve the goals of universal access to expanded learning and pre-kindergarten for all students, and ensure that expanded learning providers have the tools to better serve their youngest learners.

ADVOCACY

We serve as a bridge between decision-makers and on-the-ground program providers to ensure local and state policies meet the needs of children and families. We advocate for the success of students in school and life and we staff and coordinate the California Afterschool Advocacy Alliance (CA3), the statewide voice for afterschool.
