The Power of Us Workforce Survey is the first-of-its kind national survey of youth-serving professionals, designed to explore, define, and elevate the work of youth-serving professionals. The resulting data can be used to inform policy, practice, and research to support the youth-serving workforce. Our Co-CEO Aleah Rosario was a key advisor and served on the core team for the campaign.

CALIFORNIA DATA Snapshots
One in five respondents to the national survey works in California. The graphics below show responses from California respondents.
There is a dual story of respondents saying that on the one hand they agree with seeing themselves as part of the youth field and feel they belong, and yet 65% say that pay and benefits are something they would change.

Power of Us Meaning Making Sessions
Unlocking Insights Together
PCY teamed up with Public Profit to further analyze and make meaning of California-specific data. We hosted seven interactive sessions to process the findings and understand how the data reflects the voices and experiences of staff, especially those in direct service positions. These sessions created a unique space for a variety of expanded learning professionals - from front-line staff to organizational leaders, funders, and advocates - to discuss the data and identify key insights to inform policy and practice opportunities to address workforce issues.
These sessions took place at the National Afterschool Association Convention, the California Afterschool and Summer Challenge, the California Afterschool Network Symposium, with the 3LN Cohort, and among staff from the California Teaching Fellows Foundation.
