Video: Advocacy in Action

Every year, hundreds of youth, parents, staff, and advocates come from around California to advocate for afterschool programs at the State Capitol during the California Afterschool & Summer Challenge.

This video, created by young people from David's Harp Foundation, was filmed during the 2025 California Afterschool & Summer Challenge. We're so grateful to everyone who shared their experiences and expertise in this video: Da'Lana Walker, Senior Director at the Los Angeles Conservation Corps; Xavier Burch, a student advocate from Bay Area Community Resources; and Xenexci, a student advocate from After-School All-Stars Los Angeles. Thank you to CalSAC for leading this event to amplify the voices of young people for the past 21 years!
